Lewes Wetlands

Tubulo

After having lived in the cupboard pretty much untouched for ages, Tubulo came into its own yesterday. I think it was the added soldiers that did it.

Max the Doctor

This is actually from a week or two ago but I found it this morning and it made me laugh. Especially as I have a sore throat, I wonder what Max's bedside manner would be like...

Hanging Around

I love this little guy by Samantha Stas which I picked up at the Artist and Makers Fair in Lewes Town Hall. The kids even made these garlands at the craft table inspired, no doubt, by the excess of handy, talented and imaginative people around.

Macha's Wood

A wood, a clump and a deeply poisonous mushroom: what more do you want on an autumn afternoon.

Thursday, 10 November 2011

Man, Muswell Hill smells good. And all thanks to this old school shop which seems to roast coffee beans day in day out and has been doing so since 1897. I remember it as a kid and was so happy to find it still there, engulfing the surrounding streets in a happy fug.

Fire and Friends

I was having such a fun evening that I sort of forgot to take many pictures of the action and photographed the friends who had come to visit instead. For real bonfire photos check out pics here by a local photographer who has really caught the event amazingly well.

Lewes Bonfire

The town is hotting up. Cliffe Bonfire Society couldn't even wait for D day and had plenty of celebrations last night, as you can see by all the red debris on the ground. There is always a strange atmosphere on the day of Bonfire but today being a Saturday the town is buzzing already and it is less earie than usual. Mayhem tonight as long as rain doesn't stop play.

Here is the bonfire poem just for good measure:

Remember, remember the fifth of November Gunpowder, treason and plot I see no reason why gunpowder treason Should ever be forgot Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, 'twas his intent To blow up the King and the Parliament Three score barrels of powder below Poor old England to overthrow By God's providence he was catched With a dark lantern and burning match Holloa boys, holloa boys God save the King! Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray! A penny loaf to feed ol' Pope A farthing cheese to choke him A pint of beer to rinse it down A faggot of sticks to burn him Burn him in a tub of tar Burn him like a blazing star Burn his body from his head Then we'll say ol' Pope is dead. Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray!

Max the Matador

Poor old Max fell over at the pool today and had to have his chin glued at hospital. His look would have been just perfect for halloween.
